Day One


Morning

Depart Auckland for Rotorua

Afternoon

Time in Rotorua to collect data for assessment

Agrodome Sheep Show
The multi-award winning Agrodome Sheep Show is an hour of “full on” entertainment and education on the farming world. See also the Sheep Shearing Museum and Woollen Mill.
3.40pm
Agrodome Organic Farm tour
Take a ride on the Agrodome organic guided tour around the picturesque working farm. Jump on the back of a tractor with one of our knowledgeable farming staff, stopping along the way for some up close and personal encounters. Have the opportunity to hand feed a variety of NZ farm animals including Cattle, Alpaca, Ostriches, Sheep, Emus and Deer. Take a tour of our Organic Kiwifruit Orchard for a peak under the vines and a chance to taste Kiwifruit juice/wine and farm tour honey.

Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Wai-O-Tapu (Sacred Waters) is NZ’s most colourful and diverse volcanic area.
Home to the Champagne Pool, experience the raw beauty and sheer power that Mother Nature offers in all forms of geothermal activity! Stimulate the senses with the sights and sounds of gushing geysers, plopping mud, thundering craters and sizzling earth – The Lady Knox Geyser erupts daily at 10.15am, reaching heights of up to 20 metres!

Lesson G3 – Tourism – A Cultural Process
‘From the Pink and White Terraces to today’s markets, what have the main stages of tourism development in Rotorua been?
What factors have brought about changes inn the history of Tourism in Rotorua, such as economic, social, political and environmental?
A free ‘History of Tourism in Rotorua’ timeline is given to each student.Activities include:

  • Introduction and Discussion
  • A slide presentation

Kawarau Jet
Located in the middle of Lake Rotorua, Mokoia Island is the site of one of our country’s most famous love stories and the home of some of our most notorious Maori warriors and tribes. All tours to the Island are accompanied by experienced tour guides that walk you through the birdlife, wildlife, cultural events, history and geography of the Island. This is one of the area’s most unique experiences, made even more exciting with the addition of the Jet Boat ride, to and from the Island.

Pick-up from Keswick Christian Camp for Tamaki Tours Cultural Evening
6.30pm
Tamaki Hangi Dinner and Maori Concert
Journey back in time to a pre-European lifestyle experience of customs and traditions while ambling down the pathways of the rediscovered village as it comes alive to the sound and activities of tribal songs, dances, myths, legends and spiritual stories. Enjoy the hangi dinner, a banquet of succulent foods cooked traditionally on hot rocks in an earthen oven.

Day Three


Morning

Roll down the hill in a plastic ball with flipping and rolling around full of laughs and heaps of fun.
1.00pm
Skyline Rotorua
Take a ride in the 8-seater Doppelmayr Gondola to the top of Mt Ngongotaha and see the magnificent view of Lake Rotorua and the city. Enjoy two Luge ride, a fun filled gravity ride on a 3-wheel cart, returning to the top via a double seater chairlift. Additional Luge rides can be purchased at the School Group rate on the day at Skyline Rotorua.
